EU Funding – EIC Accelerator 

FarmInsect receives a grant of €2.5M from the EU and an investment of €5M. This will be used to build additional facilities for the regional fattening of insect larvae, a breeding program that will improve the feed conversion of the insects, and to build a second site for the expansion of young animal production. 

Thomas Kuehn, CEO and founder of FarmInsect GmbH: "We are pleased about the support of the EU in the expansion of regional production of feed. Our goal is to replace all soy and fish meal in the EU with sustainable insect protein in the next few years. The EU funding will help us achieve this goal even faster."   

The funding will be used, among other things, to establish new breeding lines of our young larvae. This year we could already achieve very good results with the use of grass silage as feed in some preliminary trials. More about this next year!
